OMNIA GOURMET
Last night, I was invited by the gorgeous
celebrity chef, Silvena Rowe, to visit her newly opened café Omnia Gourmet,
which is located at the Gourmet Souk near the Fishing Harbour, Jumeirah.
She welcomed us to the café and was lovely
to speak to. She spoke about her passion of eating healthy and her great
concern of Emiratis eating healthy. It was definitely a pleasure to meet her
and looking forward to many more encounters.
The main theme of the café was based on a
tropical rainforest which gave a warm and relaxing feel. The night was amazing
with great ambience
Omnia Gourmet is a café that provides a
variety of dishes that satisfy ones craving as well as being healthy. Usually
people believe that tasty food is only tasty due to the being full of oil, fats
and unhealthy ingredients; however this is not the case with Omnia Gourmet.
The food is healthy and focuses on being
raw, gluten free and sugar free. Being in the UAE and knowing that the UAE
population has the 2nd highest rate of diabetes, we need to start
taking care of what we eat. Most importantly, we need to believe that tasty
food can still be healthy.
The Avocado Salad was so light and hit the
palette just at the right spot, consisting of chickpeas, avocado, a pesto
dressing and chia seeds. The salmon Salad was divine with the details of the
meaty taste of the salad being balanced by the acidic taste of the green
apples. Lastly the Potato Salad with truffles was made in a creamy spicy sauce;
personally I found it a bit spicy, however for the ones who love a little spice
this one’s for you.
To accompany the salad, I enjoyed the
Emarati Gold smoothie which complimented my meal as a whole. It was one of the
most delicious drinks I have had in a while; consisted of orange, mango and bee
pollen, please do not hesitate in trying this drink due to “bee pollen”. In fact
bee pollen is a superfood and is known for helping in weight loss as well.
For the Main course, I had the Grilled
Spice Chicken Kofta which was placed on a bed of assorted flavours which
included a potato puree, labneh and an array of sautéed vegetables. The koftas
were perfectly seasoned and were delicious. Also I had the Shawarma marinated,
which is slow cooked lamb on a bed of Camargue red rice biryani. This dish was
by far the most amazing dish. The lamb was soft and melted in the mouth cooked to
perfection. The rice was soft and went well with the lamb; however I wish there
was more rice as it tasted divine.
To conclude the night, I had an assorted
selection of exquisite desserts which surprisingly are actually healthy J . My favourite desserts was
the Raspberry and chocolate brownie. The cheesecake was the most light and
fluffy cheesecake, I have ever had and just made you fall in love and drift
away. The pistachio cake was nice as well.
Overall, Omnia Gourmet, is a must try and
recommend anyone looking for healthy delicious food, this is the place to head
down to. So stop wondering where to have your next meal and head down to Omnia!
