Recipe #19 Reem's Homemade Pesto

HOW TO MAKE
Reem's Homemade Pesto

Makes ( 2 small bottles)
Prep time: 10 minutes

The recipe was made with four groups of people in mind.
1. Healthy Eaters
2. People living in Dorms or live alone

I actually made this from my plant which grew in my garden so yes yes it was very satisfying. This is a must in everyones fridge and can be used in so many ways.

Ingredients you will need for the Pesto  :
  1. 4 cups fresh basil leaves
  2. 2 garlic cloves chopped finely
  3. 1/2 cup pine nuts
  4. 1 large lime (For zest and lime lime juice)
  5. 1 tsp. salt
  6. 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  7. 1/2 cup olive oil
  8. 1/2 cup of grated parmesan cheese

Method:
  1. First make sure you wash the basil very well to ensure there is no dust or dirt left.
  2. Then place the wet leaves on a dry and leave to dry.
  3. Then heat a frying pan ,and then roast the pine nuts.( make sure you turn them so both sides turn a golden brown)
  4. In a food processor place all the dry ingredients with the olive oil and the juice of the lime ,also add the lemon zest.
  5. All the ingredients should be proceesed well till you get a bitty green paste.

Notes
:
  1. Make sure you dry the leaves ,after they are washed.
  2. Basil is a spicy leaf ,so you can adjust how much pepper you would like to add based to your liking.
  3. Do not process it for a very long time, Pesto tastes the best when the paste is bitty.
